Mexican to remain in judicial custody till June 13

Barrackpore, Jun 8 (UNI) A Mexican national facing criminal charges, including violation of Civil Aviation Act, is yet to be released from judicial custody as the Mexican Embassy in New Delhi has failed to furnish a bail bond of 10,000 US dollars granted by a local court here.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Dibyojyoti Dey had granted interim bail to Febles Ortiz Eduardo Antonio on May 11, considering a petition filed by Mr Gabriyal Terres of Mexican Embassy after his arrest at Kolkata Airport on March 21 following a complaint lodged by Captain S S Kohli of Bangkok-Delhi flight IC 854.

Defence counsel Krishnendu Sarkar said today that the court, rejecting a prayer for modification in its earlier order granting interim bail on conditions, has transferred the case to a fast track court here and directed the police to produce the accused before it on June 13.

The police had already filed the chargesheet against the accused, Mr Sarkar added.
