Madhura, Ameya are HSC toppers in Vidarbha

Nagpur, Jun 8 (UNI) Madhura Ajay Chaudhari of Wardha and Ameya Ramesh Bhangale of Achalpur in Amravati district are the joint toppers from Vidarbha in this year's Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination conducted by Maharashtra State Board for Secondary and Higher Secondary Education in February-March 2007, the results of which were declared today.

Both Madhura and Ameya scored 586 marks out of a maximum of 600, aggregating 97.67 per cent, to emerge the toppers.

Madhura, a student of J B College of Science, Wardha, was also the first overall and the first among girls in Nagpur Division.

Nirmal Marotrao Bankar of Newajabai Hitkarni Junior College, Bramhapuri (district Chandrapur) was second in Nagpur Division, with 582 marks (97 per cent). Nirmal was also the topper among the backward class candidates in the division. Nivesh Vijay Dixit of L B Shastri Junior College, Bhandara, and Ashwini Bihari Hedaoo of Shri Shivaji Science Junior College, Nagpur, were joint third in the division with 577 marks (96.17 per cent) each.

Ameya, who topped the Amravati Division, was a student of City Junior College in Achalpur of Amravati district.

Akanksha Narendra Rathi, a student of R L T Science College, Akola, was second in Amravati Division with 584 marks, aggregating 97.33 per cent. Akanksha was also the first among girls. Shweta Narhari Gawande of Shivaji Junior College, Akot, district Akola, was third, with 576 marks (96 per cent).

Ashish Bhimrao Rathod of Shivaji Science Junior College, Amravati, was the first among backward class students, with 572 marks (95.33 per cent).
