India denied access to critical component after Agni III launch
Hassan,Karnataka, June 8 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam today disclosed that India was denied the access to PAN fiber, a critical component of the Inter-continental Missile programme after the successful launch of Agni III missile.
Speaking after dedicating INSAT 4B to the nation the, President said that it was not the first time that the country was denied access of critical technology. He recalled two earlier occasions in 1973-74 and in 1998 when the country demonstrated its nuclear capabilities.
Mr Kalam said that in a competitive environment of space world, marketing the launch services from India was also becoming a challenging task as the nations which supplies few components to the spacecraft has a say in their choosing the service provider.
Stating that all these four cases had brought to the fore the need for Indian scientific and technological establishments to launch an integrated national mission for building national technological strength backed by basic science research, to overcome these economic and technological sanctions. Unique products thus realized would be sought after by many nations, even the nations who deny technology and the products, he added (Eds: pick up suitably from earlier series).
