HP police deny uranium seizure

Shimla, June 6 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Police today denied the recovery of uranium from eight persons who were apprehended on June 7 by state police at Nurpoor in Kangra district.

In an official clarification today, AIG Vinod K Dhawan said that the police had recovered a consignment of ancient Indian coins and had arrested eight persons on charges of ''illegal trafficking of coins of archeological interest''.

A vernacular daily had today reported that the seizure of eight Kg uranium. The police officer termed the news report as ''misleading''.
