Haryana instututes Energy Conservation Awards

Chandigarh, Jun 8 (UNI) With a view to promoting energy conservation in the state, the Haryana government has decided to give State Level Energy Conservation Awards to industries and other institutions engaged in saving power by adopting renewable resources measures.

Besides industries, other units which could be awarded are commercial institutions, hotels, hospitals, education institutions and government offices, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said today.

The Haryana government, he said, had launched a massive programme for Energy Conservation in the state and to ensure people's participation in energy conservation, it had instituted State Awards for excellent performance in Conservation and Management in industries and other buildings.

Mr Chander Mohan said that the first prize for high tension industries would carry a cash award of Rs two lakh, second prize of Rs one lakh and third prize of Rs 50,000.

For the low tension small scale industries, the first prize would carry a cash component of Rs one lakh and a second prize of Rs 50,000.

The Deputy Chief Minister said awards had also been instituted for outstanding performance in conservation of power in buildings.

The first prize for the Government buildings would be Rs one lakh and second prize Rs 50,000. Similarly, for commercial institutions, hotels and hospitals and educational institutes, the first prize would be of Rs one lakh, second prize Rs 50,000 and the third prize Rs 25,000.
