Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 8 (UNI) The Adivasi Gotra Mahasabha, a tribal movement, today urged asked the Kerala Government to distribute the land recovered from encroachers in Munnar to landless people in the state.

Talking to mediapersons here, Gotra Sabha President C K Janu said the government's priority should be the rehabilitation of all the landless people.

Extending its full support to the government's stern action against encroachers, she said all political parties in the state had the responsibility to support the administration's bold action in recovering government land.

Pointing out Chief Minister Achuthanandan's bold step in taking stern action against those who possessed government land illegally, she said even the Left movements lacked the will in taking such bold steps even during the era of implementing land reforms in the state.

Ms Janu alleged it was due to the failure of the succeeding governments in identifying the government and Revenue land, the long pending Adivasi land issue could not be solved till date.

Though the Antony Government had made a comprehensive agreement in this regard after the tribal agitation at Muthanga in Wayanad District, it also could not materialise because of the same issue, she added.
