Drishti Systems launches world's first 'Porno filter'
Hyderabad, June 8 (UNI) The city-based Drishti Systems today launched 'NetOptima' N101 - statistical pornography filter, the world's first porn-filtered broadband service.
Addressing the press here, Drishti Systems Head Anil K Chandra said ''NetOptima provides an effective way for IT and security managers to deter the abuse of internet privileges. The product is increasingly essential to business, educational institutions, Government agencies and other connected organisations.'' He said these filters were either keyword based or URL-based or a combination of both. All outbound web requests have to be handed off to the filter, which then performed a lookup to decide whether to block or allow them.
Mr Chandra said the filter was equipped with a simple 'plug n play' hardway device that blocked all the pornographic content, be it in websites, e-mails, documents, blogs and community websites such as Google and Yahoo groups.
Each device would cost about Rs 65,000. One device could optimally support about 500 computers surfing the net.
