Child dies, 9 taken ill after eating rotten melons

Ludhiana, June 8 (UNI) A five-year old child died while nine others, including seven children and two women were taken ill after consuming rotten water melons and musk melons at their homes near a toll tax barrier on Ludhiana-Ferozpur road this morning, According to police sources, the affected families were of daily wagers and had purchased the fruits at cheap rates. After eating the fruits many of them started vomiting and were rushed to a local hospital, where five-year old Ram Bhagat died.

The others including the children and two women were admitted in the hospital and are said to be stable.
