Puducherry, Jun 8 (UNI) A BJP delegation, led by former Union Minister Dhananjaya Kumar and party functionary Lalitha Kumaramanagalam, today visited Thengaithittu village, site for the proposed deep-sea port project here and held discussions with the villagers, who are opposing the project.

Talking to mediapersons, Mr Kumar urged the territorial administration to drop the project as it was ''unwarranted.'' The party would seek the intervention of the Centre on the issue he said, adding, they would rake up the issue in both Houses of the Parliament.

The project falls under three constituencies he said and alleged that as each legislator was reportedly ''promised'' a five star hotel, they (MLAs) had supported the scheme.

He charged that the project, worth several thousand crores of rupees, was handed over to a private player with a black mark.

Meanwhile, criticising the administration for its ''failure'' in devolving powers to the elected local body representatives, Mr Kumar said the BJP would press the Centre to stop the LAD fund for the local bodies here.
