2 killed, 3 wounded and warlike stores recovered in J

Srinagar, June 8 (UNI) Two persons were killed and three others, including a couple, injured while security forces recovered warlike stores, including explosives in Jammu and Kashmir overnight, an offfical spokesman said today.

Ghulam Hussain Paswal and Latief Ahmad Paswal were abducted by some gunmen from their houses at Sanimarg, Tral, about 40 km from here late last night. While Ghulam Hussain was killed, Latief was wounded by the abductors, he said, the adding the injured was hospitalised.

A massive hunt has been launched to nab the killers.

The spokesman said, police today recovered a body from the deep forest area of Kathallan in Pulwama district.

Militants hurled a hand grenade towards the house of Dileep Singh at Bankan Thawa in Thathri area of Doda district last night.

However, the grenade exploded in the compound, resulting in injuries to the house owner and his wife.

The injured have been shifted to the hospital.

Police apprehended a militant and seized a hand grenade from his possession.

Security forces seized 10 kg of explosives, two Improvised Explosive Device (IED) switches, one magazine, 270 rounds and a charger at Rangwar Lalpora in Kupwara district last evening.

He said an explosive device, believed to be either a mine or a mortar shell, went off on the Sadhna-Ragni road in Kupwara district, resulting in serious injuries to a labourer.

The wounded, identified as Darbari Hasda of Jharkhand, was admitted to an Army hospital in Chowkibal, they added.

Police have started investigations into the matter.
