Visakhapatnam, June 7 (UNI) The Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) has adopted a contingency plan to overcome disruption in supply of iron ore by National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) from Bailadibba mines in Chattisgarh.

A VSP spokesman today said the plant had stocks for more than two weeks and efforts were on to ensure optimum production. Alternative procurement plan was also being worked out with support from NMDC and Ministry of Steel to ensure additional supplies from Donimala mines of NMDC, SAIL and OMDC mines and Khudremukh pellets and JSW pellets.

The supplies to the consuming centres on the Kothavalasa-Kirandul K K Rail line were disrupted following blasts of power towers by Maoists in Chattisgarh.

The raw material supply from NMDC was likely to be restored by June 11.
