Village stay has got good response, says Minister

Mysore, Jun 2 (UNI) Karnataka Cooperative and Mysore District Incharge Minister G T Deve Gowda today said the government officials village stay in the district had received good response with 30 per cent of the problems being solved so far.

Speaking to reporters here, Mr Gowda said the programme of taking government to the doorsteps of the villagers in the district was completed in 59 grampanchayats. As many as 36,376 complaints from the villagers were received of which 11,506 had already been attended to. The rest would be dealt with by July 31.

The University of Mysore's Department of Development Studies had been entrusted with the task of assessing the government officials village stay and its success.

A report would be submitted to the government. Chief Minister H D Kumarswamy was expected to announce the extension of the programme to other parts of the state by August 15.

Earlier, Mr Deve Gowda continued his padayatra in the city for the third day today visiting the 100-year-old Deveraja Market in the city and felt sorry over the plight of the traders and customers.

He directed the city corporation authorities to take up works to improve the market including restoring underground drainage lines.

Mr Gowda also set a deadline of July 31 for the officials to finish all the works initiated during his padyatra.
