Kohima, June 7: The Nagaland Gaon Burahs (Village Headmen) Federation and Dobhashis (Mediators) Association, in a joint meeting christened as 'Joint Action Forum' (JAF) here yesterday, resolved to intervene and stop bloodshed and fratricidal killings among the Naga factions.

The JAF, attended by the Gaon Burahs (GBs) and Dobhashis (DBs) from the state, adopted a five-point resolution to stop all fratricidal killings and proposed a six-month ceasefire among the factions, during which the Cease Fire Ground Rules (approved by the Centre), would have to be strictly adhered to.

It further resolved to make efforts to forge unity among the underground factions.

It also cautioned that during the period of ceasefire, if anyone was killed, all the Naga villagers would stand up against the faction responsible for the killing.

The JAF resolved that if any faction abrogated the ceasefire, all the Naga villagers would cease their cooperation and support to the faction.

The meeting was inaugurated by Nagaland Additional Chief Secretary and Commissioner T N Mannen, who lauded the GBs and DBs for their efforts for bringing peace in the state. He added that law and order in the state should be maintained and there should be public pressure to stop the fratricidal killings.
