Squad for monitoring distribution of seeds
Bangalore, June 7 (UNI) Karnataka Agriculture Minister Bandeppa Kashempur today said the government had appointed a special squad for monitoring the distribution of quality seeds to farmers.
Talking to reporters here he said the squad would be headed by the Agriculture Joint Commissioner. The department had black listed some companies for distributing substandard quality last year, he said adding the State Seeds Corporation would take action against those who indulge in such distribution.
The department had already begun distributing the seeds as the sowing season had begun with the arrival of monsoon, he said.
Last year, the Corporation had distributed seeds worth Rs 87 crore and this year also it would distribute to the same amount.
