Smack worth Rs one crore seized, one held

Kanpur, June 7 (UNI) Police here today arrested a smuggler with the seizure of 7.2 gm smack, estimated to be of Rs one crore in the international market.

Senior Superintendent of Police Abhay Kumar Prasad said Parvez Ahmed was nabbed on a tip-off in Rail Bazar area.

On being frisked, 7.2 gm smack was recovered from his possession.

On interrogation, the accused confessed he was transporting the consignment to wanted smack smuggler Bablu Sonekar and his sibling, for which he was promised Rs 25,000 as commission.

A case had been registered and a manhunt launched to nab the other gang members.
