K'taka: Situation in Tumkur returning to normalcy
Tumkur, June 7: Situation in the City, which witnessed large scale violence in a clash between two groups yesterday over burial ground issue, is returning to normalcy with no untoward incident reported.
However, authorities have continued prohibitory orders as precautionary measure.
Yesterday several people, including three policemen, were injured in stone pelting with two groups attacking each other on a dispute over ownership of a burial ground. The trouble started as one group took objection to burial of a body belonging to other group forcing police to lob teargas shells after lathicharge found to be futile to disperse the clashing groups.
Several people were taken into custody for questioning in the violence in which several police vehicles were damaged.
Additional forces have been deployed in the sensitive areas as a precautionary measures.
