Sister Abhaya case; two officials suspended
Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 7 (UNI) Chief Chemical Examiner R Geetha and Junior Scietific Officer D Chitra were today suspended from service in view of their alleged involvement in the sensational Sister Abhya murder case.
Kerala Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishan issued the orders suspending the two officials as they were included in the list of accused in a case relating to the tampering of crucial evidence in the Sister Abhaya case, a release said here.
Both the employees had gone underground after the Chief Judicial Magistrate court issued non-bailable arrest warrants against them for alleged involvement in tampering with the workbook at the lab that contained preliminary inferences of the chemical examination of the vaginal swab and smear of Sister Abhaya.
The charge of the Cheif Chemical Examiner was temporarily given to Forensic Science Laboraty Director, the release added.
The body of the 22-year-old nun of the Pius X Convent at Kottayam district was found floating in a well in the convent, on March 27, 1992, under mysterious circumstances.
