Shimla records hottest night at 18.7 Celsius

Shimla, Jun 7 (UNI) The minimum temperature at Shimla town soared to 18.7 degree Celsius, recording the hottest night of the summer season last night, the met office today said.

The minimum at 18.7 degree Celsius was 2.7 degrees above normal, while the maximum at 28.1 was 4.1 degrees above normal, it said.

However, the hottest night in the town remained at 22 degree Celsius recorded way back in 2001, Shimla Met Office Director Manmohan Singh told UNI here.

He said the minimum and maximum at temperatures in the town were set to rise further tomorrow with the monsoon likely to reach the state only by June 20.

The minimum at Sudernagar soared to 20.7 followed by 30.5 at Nahan, 22.5 at Palampur, 22 at Una, 21.8 at Dharamshala and 19 degrees at Solan.

Una town was the hottest temperature place in the state with the maximum at about 41 degrees, forcing the people to remain indoors during day time.

Sundernagar was hot at 38.9 degrees, while the maximum at Bhuntar rose to 36, 34 degrees at Dharamshala and 25.1 degrees at Kalpa in Kinnuar district.

The met office said sky would remain clearly sky in the state during the next 24 hrs.
