Safdarjung doctor, father arrested on dowry harrassment charges

New Delhi, Jun 7 (UNI) A doctor at the prestigious Safdarjung Hospital in South Delhi here was today arrested, along with his father and brother, for allegedly harrassing his wife over dowry demands.

Jwala Prasad, an ENT specialist at Safdarjung Hospital, was arrested soon after his wife Malti lodged a complaint with the police at New Usmanpur police station in North-East Delhi, according to sources.

His father Phool Singh, a retired headmaster, and brother Indrapal were also arrested later.

However, his mother Shyamwati whose name also figures in the complaint has not been arrested.

Malti (30), who hails from Meerut and works as a teacher in a government girls school in Shastri Park, alleged in her complaint that she would be regularly harrassed, both mentally and physically, by them for dowry.

Married two years back, the couple has no issue.
