Rupee opens weaker at 40.68 per dollar
Mumbai, June 7: Rupee opened weaker at 40.68 per dollar, slightly down from the previous close of 40.66/67 as traders spotted the dip in Sensex which impacted the local currency.
The domestic unit which plunged further to trade at 40.71/72 in the morning trade later showed signs of strengthening as it currently trades at a better margin of 40.61/62.
However, dealers said the fall in bourses witnessed yesterday assumes a high degree of correlation with the forex trade which may further pull down the local unit to close at around 40.70 at the end of the day.
