Raje convenes meeting of Collectors and SPs on June 9

Jaipur, June 7(UNI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has convened a meeting of the collectors and superintendents of police of the districts affected by the Gujjar quota agitation here on June 9.

According to reliable sources, the district administration and police officials have been asked to come with the detailed reports of the incidents related to the week-long agitation.

The Gujjar agitation demanding ST status to the community began on May 29 and later turned into the most violent stir in the history of the state claiming 25 lives and leaving hundreds injured in police firing and castes clashes. The agitation ended after an agreement reached between the agitating Gujjar Sangharsh Samiti leaders and the government on June 4.

The meeting assumes importance in the light of the Supreme Court describing the agitation as a ''national shame'' with the state government and police failing miserably in its duty of maintaining law and order.
