Railway revenue earnings up 10.97 per cent
New Delhi, Jun 07 (UNI) Bolstered by the phenomenal changes in the freight and passenger segments, the Railways earned Rs. 11001.05 crore compared to Rs. 9913.49 crore during the same period last year,registering an increase of 10.97 per cent.
The goods earnings went up from Rs. 6642.37 to Rs. 7309.66 crore during the period, an increase of 10.05 per cent.
The passenger revenue earnings during the first two months of the current fiscal were Rs. 3283.59 crore compared to Rs. 2929.17 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 12.10 per cent.
The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs. 312.10 crore compared to Rs. 262.35 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 18.96 per cent.
The total sundry earnings rose from Rs. 79.60 crore to Rs. 95.70 crore during April-May this year, an increase of 20.23 per cent.
The approximate number of passengers booked during the first two months of the current fiscal were 1059.99 million compared to 1004.92 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 5.48 per cent.
In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked were 549.80 million and 510.19 million compared to 525.49 million and 479.38 million during the same period last year, an increase of 4.62 per cent and 6.43 per cent respectively.
