Punjab seeks private players for flying schools
Patiala, June 7 (UNI) The Punjab Government has sought public-private partnership (PPP) to set up three flying training schools at Amritsar, Ludhiana and Bathinda, besides upgrading the infrastructure at the Patiala Flying Training Academy, Civil Aviation Minister Dr Upinderjit Kaur said here today.
Talking to mediapersons, she said that she has asked the officials of the Civil Aviation Department not to miss the aviation boom and asked them to tie up with the leading players in the field of civil aviation for setting up of world-class pilot training centers in the state.
She further added that Secretary Civil Aviation would submit a detailed proposal for the up-gradation of Sahnewal airfield in collaboration with Airport Authority of India (AAI), in a joint venture. Likewise, it was also decided by the government to put forth a proposal for setting up an International Airport and cargo hubat Mohali.
The Mohali airport was likely to decongest the air traffic at International Airport at Delhi and Amritsar, besides giving a fillip to the trade and commerce activity in the country in general and northern region in particular.
