Public Prosecutor resigns from post, declines to continue
Mumbai, Jun 7 (UNI) Session Court Public Prosecutor Rohini Salian today declined to accept Maharashtra government's extension order to continue in her post for the next three months.
Ms Salian and three Additional Public Prosecutors today received an extension order from Mantralaya for three months from June 1, this year as their tenure expired on May 31.
As soon as she received the order copy, she immediately sent her resignation to the government. ''I would not be able to continue as Public Prosecutor as there are only 16 Additional Public Prosecutors in the Session Court to tackle 50 courts, which is not possible,'' the letter stated.
Ms Salian had already written to the government about two months back that she did not want to continue as Public Prosecutor after the expiry of her tenure on May 31.
She had trained three Additional Public Prosecutors to tackle the stringent Maharashtra Control for Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) during this period.
She is currently handling the Sara and Sahara case. The Bombay High Court is likely to pronounce the judgment in the csae by June 11.
