AP: Outstanding scientist award for V P Dimri

Hyderabad, June 7: National Geophysical Research Institute Director Dr V P Dimri has been the selected for the Outstanding Scientist Award by the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry(FAPCCI).

Announcing this at a press conference here, FAPCCI Awards Committee Chairman O P Goenka said the award would be presented to Dimri by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy here tomorrow.

The FAPCCI recognised his outstanding contribution in Geophysical Data Analysis and Interpretation for a variety of applications such as precursors to earthquakes and exploration of hydrocarbons and groundwater.

For over 36 years, Dr Dimri had devoted himself to shaping and implementing research in Basic and Applied Geophysics to a wide range of social and economic issues. To be on par with international research, he has designed major scientific programmes in various sectors, including energy security, water security and risk assessment.

He holds the prestigious Chair position of National Committee of International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics and International Geographic Union.
