One Indian killed, nine missing in Oman cyclone

New Delhi, June 7 (UNI) One Indian was killed and nine others were missing in cyclone Gonu that hit Oman yesterday, the External Affairs Ministry said today.

The body of Prakashan, who hailed from Mysore and not Kerala as earlier reported, was recovered at Wadi Adi, the Ministry said in a statement quoting Embassy of India, Muscat.

Dharmarajan from Hyderabad, earlier reported missing, was found and was given medical treatment.

The Ministry said Mohammad Abdul Rahim from Hyderabad was admitted to hospital with leg injuries.

Eight of the missing have been identified as Prithvi Pal Singh (Punjab), Anil Ottapalam (Palaghat, Kerala), Sajit Kumar (Calicut, Kerala), Udayan (Mammiyoor, Kerala), Mohammad Ali and Binu (both Ernakulam, Kerala), and Sreenu and Sami (both Andhra Pradesh).

The ninth, from Punjab, is yet to be identified, the statement said.
