Notorious dacoit arrested

Bhind, MP, June 7 (UNI) Notorious dacoit Nandu Dhimar, who carried a reward of Rs 35,000 on his head, was today arrested from Indurakhi village in this district, police said.

''On a tip-off, police arrested Nandu when he reached Indurakhi village with the intention of carrying out dacoity,'' Bhind Superintendent of Police Niranjan Vayangkar said.

The Uttar Pradesh police had announced a reward of Rs 25,000 on the arrest of Nandu, while Bhind and Datia police had announced reward of Rs 5,000 each on Nandu's arrest.

Nandu had fled from Lahar jail along with his chieftain Raghuveer Dhimar five years back.

After Raghuveer, who carried a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head, died in an encounter with police, Nandu took over as the gang's chieftain.

He was wanted by Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh police in connection with several cases of murder, attempt to murder, loot and abduction.

A 315-bore gun and cartridges were seized from Nandu.
