MPBSE results: Girls outshine boys

Bhopal, June 7 (UNI) Girls have outperformed boys in the higher secondary (Class XII) examination results of the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) announced today, with the overall pass percentage being 70.66 per cent.

As per the results announced by the MPBSE, 77.49 per cent girls passed in the exams whereas the figure for boys stood at 66.56 per cent.

School Education Minister Narottam Mishra and Minister of State Paras Jain jointly released the results.

Pass percentage in government schools was 74 per cent, while it stood at 67 per cent for non-government schools.

Arrangements had been made for providing pass certificate and migration certificate along with the mark sheet.

A total of 2,77,729 students had registered for the exams, but 2,190 students did not appear in the examination, while results of 881 students was cancelled.

As per the results, 1,05,585 students secured first division, 80,856 students got second division, 6,680 students received third division and four students secured pass percentage.

Besides, 37,663 students will have to appear in supplementary examination.

Likewise, 40,552 private students had registered for the exams, but 2,421 students did not appear, while exam results of 178 students was cancelled.

As per the results, 3,349 students secured first division, 9,690 students got second division, 2,406 students received third division and three students obtained passing percentage. Besides, 7,491 students will have to appear in supplementary examinations.

Pass percentage of private students was at 41.19 per cent with 46.81 girls passing in the exams, whereas the figure for boys stood at 38.60 per cent.

Students from smaller towns dominated the merit list, including in science subject, as against students from Bhopal and Indore.

Students from Bundelkhand division's Chhatarpur, Damoh, Sagar and Panna districts found place in the merit list, which also included two students from tribal-dominated Badwani district.

Nine students from Chhatarpur found place in the merit list.

In arts stream, Sagar's Akshay Jain topped the list with 401 marks, followed by Sagar's Khuman Singh Patel (400) and Damoh's Ravi Kumar Chourasia (398).

In science stream, Shivpuri's Vaishali Baihare topped the merit list with 434 marks, Bhind's Dhamendra Vajpayee secured second place and Chhatarpur's Ramkrishna Shukla bagged third spot with 431 marks each.

In commerce stream, Jabalpur's Ruchita Agrawal notched the top spot with 422 marks, followed by Gwalior's Shailendra Jain (419) and Vidisha's Vinita Baghel (417).

In agriculture stream, Chhatarpur's Nitin Kant Khare topped the list with 416 marks, followed by Chhatarpur's Rajeev Kumar Gupta (402).

In fine arts stream, Gwalior's Niharika Singhal topped the list with 341 marks.

Bhind's Manisha Dubey came first in the home science stream with 391 marks, followed by Khargone's Pramila Septa (391) and Niti Rochlani (390).
