More powers to task force to check female feoticide in HP

Shimla, Jun 7 (UNI) More powers will be given to the task force besides seeking help from CID department to check female feoticide in Himachal Pradesh, health director ML Mahajan said today.

Presiding over the meeting of state and district level task forces, constituted under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), he said surprise inspections were being carried out to take strict action against clinics functioning in an illegal manner.

Mr Mahajan said strict watch was being kept on Clinics where sex determination tests were being conducted besides giving more powers to the Task Forces to check female foeticide.

Help from the CID Department would also be taken to check such illegal practices, he said.

He said surprise raids were also conducted in ultrasound clinics in Shimla, Solan and Una districts and some machines sealed besides cancelling their registration after detecting irregularities in their functioning.
