More investment needed from UK: Praful Patel
Leeds, UK, June 7 (UNI) Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel today stressed the need for having more partnerships and FDI from companies in the United Kingdom as India would require at least 300 billion dollars for infrastructural development, of which 40 billion dollars will be for the aviation sector.
In a brief interaction with reporters after a function organised by Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industries-IFFA global business forum, he said more and more direct investment is expected from the UK.
Mr Patel, who was presented a doctorate by the Lord Metropolitan University, said it was an honour not only for him but also for the country to receive the doctorate.
Earlier in his speech, the minister stressed the need to explore the things of common interest among the two countries and to compliment each other.
He stressed the need for having more investment in IT, Telecom and Aviation sector which is growing with a rapid speed in the country.
Giving the example of aviation sector, Mr Patel said in the last three years this sector has had 100 per cent growth and more development was expected in the same.
Indian High Commissioner Kamlesh Sharma said the next half century is going to be of young people as India has enormous youth force and added that now India's moment of showing its potential has arrived.
