Monsoon may be further delayed in NE

Agartala, June 7 (UNI) The onset of monsoon in the North East region may be delayed for the next 72 hours due to interruption of cyclonic movement in Arabian Sea.

Quoting National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF), the Agro-met advisory service of ICAR Tripura centre today said a fresh trough has formed over Bay of Bengal following the movement of cyclonic pressure towards Arabian Sea early this week.

According to the report, the cyclonic movement over Bay of Bengal may be further delayed and is expected to hit the region by June 10.

There is a good chance of scattered rain across the region during the period.

Moderate rain will occur at many places over Asom, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh whereas light rain would occur at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur Tripura and Mizoram during next two days, the report further added.
