Mercury rises in MP
Bhopal, June 7 (UNI) With appropriate weather system not being created, Madhya Pradesh is reeling under severe heat with mercury rising to 40-45 degree Celsius at several places.
Blistering heat swept across southern Madhya Pradesh apart from Malwa, Mahakaushal and Vindhya Anchal divisions.
Regional meteorological department D P Dubey said rainfall was occurring as appropriate weather system not being created. No respite from heat could expected in the coming days.
He said monsoon was expected to arrive in the state by June 15.
Monsoon had stopped in Kerala at present.
Recently, upper air circulation had been created over Arabian Sea but it moved towards Saudi Arabia.
In the state capital, maximum and minimum temperatures of 42.2 C and 30.2 deg C was recorded, both four notches above normal.
Gwalior turned out to be the hottest region in the place recording maximum and minimum temperatures at 44.5 C and 34.9 C. A high of 40.5 C was recorded in Indore, followed by 43.7 C in Jabalpur, 44 C in Satna and 40 C in Rewa.
Light rainfall occurred in at isolated places in Ujjain division, while weather remained dry in other places.
Showers accompanied with lightning was expected in all the divisions in the next 24 hours.
