Mansurpur scheme to be redesigned by Haryana government

Chandigarh, June 7 (UNI) The Haryana Government has envisaged a plan to construct the Mansurpur Lift Irrigation Scheme by re-designing one section of Mansurpur Distributory in such a way that it could receive water from Nalvi Distributory system during Kharif Season.

Irrigation Minister Capt Ajay Singh Yadav today said the Irrigation Department was accordingly asked to submit the revised project for sanction of the government. He said the matter had been discussed by the senior officers of the Department in a meeting with Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, he added.

He said the scheme was sanctioned for Rs 319.15 lakh in 1999, but could not be completed. This is a Lift Irrigation Channel having three lifts and involving a discharge of 28.95 cusecs water.

Capt Yadav added this scheme had been prepared to make available irrigation facilities to 12,900 acres of agriculture land in 26 villages of the districts of Ambala and Kurukshetra.

He estimated total revised cost of the scheme at current price was Rs 583.59 lakh, out of which an expenditure of Rs 171.17 lakh had been incurred so far and the balance amount for the scheme required was Rs 412.42 lakh.
