Kerala to have High Speed Corridor to run bullet trains
Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 7 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achutanandan today said a feasibility study will be conducted along with the Railways to establish a High Speed Corridor to run bullet trains in the state.
After a discussion with Railway Board Chairman J B Batra, Mr Achutanandan told reporters the state had also asked for inclusion of Thiruvananthapuram-Kochi and Bangalore-Mangalore routes in the High Speed Corridor.
Mr Batra said trains with a speed of 250 km per hour would be running on the High Speed Corridors which would be constructed in public/private partnership.
Mr Achutanandan said the doubling works in the Shornur- Mangalore line would be completed this year and all other doubling works in the state by next year.
Ahead of the discussion with the Chief Minister, Mr Batra held talks with the Chief Secretary Lizzie Jacob on the progress of the ongoing Railway projects in the state.
