Kerala Election Commission freezes JD(S) symbol
Thiruvananthapuram, June 7 (UNI) In a setback to warring factions of the Janata Dal (Secular) in Kerala, the State Election Commission today froze the election symbol of the party for the local body elections.
With this, the rival groups headed by Mr M P Veerendrakumar and Dr A Neelalohithadasan Nadar cannot not use the symbol of 'lady farmer carrying paddy on her head.' The commission issued the order in the wake of a High Court direction.
It also directed the district collectors not to issue the symbol for any individual or party till further orders from the commission.
