Justice Chopra to head three member committee on Gujjars' demand
Jaipur, Jun 7 (UNI) Retired Judge of Rajasthan High Court Justice Jasraj Chopra will head the three-member high-powered committee, being constituted by the state government, to examine the demand and representation of Gujjars for inclusion of the community into the Scheduled Tribe category.
Principal Secretary (Home) V S Singh told reporters here that the government had finalised Justice Chopra's name for the chairmanship of the committee.
Formal orders for the constitution of the committee, appointment of the member secretary and a member to the committee and the committee's terms of reference would be issued tomorrow, Mr Singh said.
The government has announced the constitution of the committee at the final round of talks with Gujjar Reservation Action Committee's convenor Col Kirodi Singh Bainsla and other leaders which had led to a peaceful settlement of the week long Gujjar agitation on June 4.
The committee is expected to submit its report to the State Government by three months.
