Judges issue notice to govt on writ filed by state EC

Bangalore, June 7 (UNI) Justice Bannurmath and Mr Justice Bopanna of Karnataka High Court today issued of notices to the state government and others on a writ appeal filed by the state Election Commission,challenging the order of the single judge granting nine weeks time for the state government for issuing reservation notifications in respect of elections to the 207 urban local bodies in the state.

A single Judge Justice Ramamohana Reddy while disposing a batch of separate Writ petitions, contending that the reservation notifications issued by the government was not in accordance with provisions of law and that the same had to be done according to rotation, had granted nine weeks to the government taking on record the submissions made by the Advocate General on behalf of the government that within that time the reservations notifications would be issued afresh.
