Jaggi case judge gets threat letter
Raipur, Jun 7 (UNI) Additional Sessions and Special Judge (Atrocities) B L Tidke, who acquitted former chief minister Ajit Jogi's son in a murder case, has received a letter threatening him with dire consequences.
Golbazar police station town inspector S R Chari told UNI that the judge had received a post card, threatening him with dire consequences for acquitting Mr Amit Jogi and convicting 28 others in the case of murder of Nationalist Congress Party leader Ram Avatar Jaggi.
Pointing out that a case under section 507 of IPC has been registered against unidentified accused, he said investigations were in progress.
Mr Chari said police was investigating into three angles -- whether it was a mischief, or the handiwork of any of those who were convicted in the case, or whether it was written by anyone associated with the family members of Mr Jaggi, who was shot dead on June four, 2003.
He said the police was yet to record the statement of Judge B L Tidke as he was on leave.
Judge Tidke had acquitted Mr Amit from the charges of criminal conspiracy and murder of Mr Jaggi but had convicted 19 others for life imprisonment and nine for five years rigrious imprisonment on May 31.
The CBI, which had investigated the case, had filed charges against Mr Amit Jogi and 30 others in the Jaggi murder case. While Mr Jogi was acquitted, two other accused who turned approvers were also let off.
