Innova develops VMS to help retrieve stolen cell phones

Chennai, June 7 (UNI) Innova Technologies, a software company specialised in research and development of systems and applications for wireless telecommunications, has developed a unique application ''Virtual Mobile Security'' (VMS) to help retrieve stolen cell phones.

The unique feature of the VMS is that it blocks the usage of all contents like telephone numbers, data, photographs by any unauthorised person.

Explaining the special features of VMS here today, Innova Technologies Promoter Kshitiz Jain said, ''This is a more advanced application which will benefit the cell phone users particularly when the mobile is stolen or lost. It is also very cost effective and within the reach of the common man.'' The VMS application starts automatically as the phone is switched on and always keeps detecting if your SIM card is changed.

It acts in two cases- if the sim card is changed and if it receives a user defined sms from any mobile to activate VMS and block the phone.

''If any of the above happens, the VMS will ensure that the thief is prevented from going ahead with his plan,'' he added.

With a permanent text on screen saying that the mobile was lost or stolen with user defined contact number and address, the phone would send messages to a list of mobiles defined by the user giving information about the new SIM number and current network information such as the cell ID, area Code etc.

He said ''if you call your mobile phone from anywhere (you will be notified of the new number if the thief changes the SIM) VMS will answer you directly and activate the loud speaker by raising a siren alarm without a phone ring so the thief is not notified of the call which helps you to spy or talk to the thief on loud speaker.

The VMS could be used in Nokia phones and plans were afoot to develop the applications for use in other brands while ensuring that the new and future generation Nokia mobiles would have the VMS software.
