Hyderabad, Jun 7 (UNI) Contending that farmers in Andhra Pradesh were facing untold hardship during the Congress rule, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today claimed that the state could be no model for other states in undertaking farmer-friendly measures.

Terming the 'Integrated Action Plan 2007' released by the state government as ''lacklustre'', BJP National Secretary N Indirasena Reddy told newspersons that it lacked worthwhile action plan to bring the farm sector out of deep crisis.

Boasting that the BJP government in Gujarat was in the forefront in bringing large tracts of dry land under irrigation using drip and sprinkler irrigation system, he said in Tamil Nadu, ruled by the Congress party's ally, power was supplied to peasants for more number of hours than in Andhra Pradesh.

The Rajasekhara Reddy government should take note of the fact that in Kerala, ruled by the Left front, incentives were provided to paddy growers over and above the Minimum Support Price(MSP) fixed by the Centre, unlike in Andhra Pradesh.

No silent revolution was ushering in the state as claimed by the Chief Minister. The farmers were facing large number of problems starting from spurious seeds to unremunerative price for the produce.

On the Action Plan suggesting enhancement of MSP for various crops by the Centre, he wanted the state government to provide additional incentives, if the Centre did not heed to its advice.
