Orissa: Conjurer beaten up after failing to resurrect
Kendrapada, June 7: A conjurer was allegedly beaten up by the villagers in a remote coastal village of Orissa after he failed to resurrect a cadaver with his self-professed super power.
Police said the case had come to light on Tuesday at Salamanga village, 65 km from here, where the villagers, driven by blind faith, exhumed the body of a seven-year-old boy killed by snake bite after the black magician of the locality promised to give it a new lease of life.
The boy had died on Monday and his body was buried in a local burial ground. The following morning, a black magician claimed that he could revive the dead child.
The body was dug out and special prayer by the conjurer in front of the cadaver were organised.
As the black magician failed to bring life in the cadaver, the villagers attacked him, the police added.
Later, some people with the help of police managed to rescue the black magician from the wrath of the villagers.
