Congress fields Rajendran for TN by-poll

Madurai, June 7 (UNI) The Congress has fielded a greenhorn, K S K Rajendran, for the June 26 by-election to Tamil Nadu Assembly from Madurai West constituency.

Rajendran (48), hailing from dominant Thevar community, is currently the Vice-President of the District Congress Committee.

Overlooking the claims of many other strong contenders, the party leadership had plumped for him, surprising the observers.

Mr Rajendran would file his nomination papers tomorrow, the last day for filing the nominations.
