Collector office clerk caught accepting bribe of Rs 1,000

Mumbai, Jun 7 (UNI) Sleuths of the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) today arrested a senior clerk attached to election branch of the collector office at Nehru Nagar in the eastern suburbs, while accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000 to enroll the name of a complainant in the electoral roll.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Vilas Tupe told UNI that accused Pramod Wade had demanded Rs 1,000 from the complainant for entering her name in the electoral roll of the collector office.

The complainant had agreed to pay the amount and sought time to make the payment. Meanwhile, she approached the ACB Worli office and lodged a complaint against the accused.

The accused was arrested around 1330 hours today when the complainant went to the collector office to make the payment.

The accused will be produced before special court tomorrow for remand, Mr Tupe added.
