Child crushed in road accident

Mirzapur, June 7 (UNI) A six-year-old child was crushed under a speeding jeep in Vindhyachal area here this afternoon.

According to police, driver of the vehicle fled the scene after hitting Arjun of Akodi village, when he was playing on the roadside.

Agitated villagers later blocked the Mirzapur-Allahabad highway, leading to traffic snarl for over two hrs. The mob was calmed only after senior officials reached the spot.

The body had been sent for autopsy.
