Change of guard in MP Cong ruled out
Bhopal, June 7 (UNI) Congress General Secretary V Narayanasamy today ruled out change of leadership in the party's Madhya Pradesh unit saying there was no plan to remove PCC chief Subhash Yadav.
With a view to strengthen and activate Congress in the state, the party's state executive would be formed this month along with constitution of the district and block committees, he told reporters here.
He gave credit for the party's victory in the Shivpuri assembly byelection to the enthusiasm among the party cadre and the organisation and thanked party MP Jyotiraditya Scindia and others in ensuring the party's success.
The Congress General Secretary incharge of Madhya Pradesh said Jabalpur Town DCC, formed without the PCC approval, had been dissolved and notices issued to the persons concerned.
Charging that the state's BJP government with pursuing a Hindutva agenda, he said the Congress would launch a three-month long mass contact campaign from next month to loster communal harmony and to warn the people against the BJP's communal designs.
''Harassment of minorities is on the rise and as many as 117 cases had been registered so far. The minorities and backward classes feel insecure under BJP regime,'' he claimed.
The party would also launch training programmes for Congress workers at district and block-level, he added.
Mr Narayanasamy demanded that an all-party committee should be formed to monitor the centrally-sponsored programmes in Madhya Pradesh, alleging rampant corruption and misuse of funds in such programmes. The BJP was siphoning funds of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme through fake voluntary organisations, he added.
