BSF seize bidi worth Rs more than two lakhs
Shillong, June 07 (UNI) The BSF officials in a release here today said they have seized 15 cartons of 'Bidi' worth Rs 2,52,000 yesterday near the Indo-Bangladesh border.
The release stated that the unclaimed cartons were meant to be smuggled to Bangladesh through Nayabazar area here.
The BSF personnel were keeping a close vigil on the movement of a group of about seven miscreants moving towards the neighbouring country, the release stated adding that when interrogated they threw away their head loads and managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
''Ever since the deployment of 121 BN of BSF on Indo-Bangladesh border on August last year, troops of this unit have made seizures of contrabands goods worth more than one crore along with 426 cattle and intercepted 278 Bangladeshi illegal entrants and 96 Indian nationals during this period,'' it added.
