Bharti Airtel launches 'Airtel Messenger'
New Delhi, June 7 (UNI) Country's leading mobile operator Bharti Airtel today launched 'Airtel Messenger' service that offers text chatting within a personalised set of communities.
Airtel Messenger users can send and receive messages in real-time via their mobile without the need to be attached to a computer.
''Airtel Messenger is a convenient and value added text messaging service that will largely appeal to young professionals and youth to be in constant touch with their friends, family and business associates,'' Bharti Airtel Chief Marketing Officer (Mobile Services) Sanjay Gupta said in a statement.
This service combines the power of a desktop chat with the mobility and convenience of an Airtel mobile, and as an introductory offer is free of cost till August 31.
The messenger service offers various personalised options of usage including status tag options like 'Online/Offline', 'I am busy' or 'In a meeting'.
It also gives the users the advantage to convey multiple emotions while in conversation. Its presence-enabled address book allows the sender to know when their contacts are online.
To install Airtel Messenger mobile, an Airtel customer needs to have a GPRS and Airtel Live activated handset. They can register by sending an SMS to 57070 with the message 'IM'.
