Audio cassettes help candidate pass HS

Agartala, June 7 (UNI) Traditionally books have catapulted many a student to succeed in life, but audio-cassettes are not lagging behind.

It is about 200 audio-cassettes that helped a differently-abled boy's dream come true in Higher Secondary Exam this year.

Tanumoy Bhowmick, a visually impaired passed higher secondary examination with first division under Tripura Board of Secondary Education this year.

Tanumoy appeared in the exam from Pallymangal H S School, outskirt of Agartala town. and passed with a brilliant result. He is the highest scorer among the successful candidates of the school.

Talking to UNI Tanumoy said, besides, practising lesson in Braill method, his father and an elderly neighbour had prepared the notes of all five subjects, including History and made it into an audio-version.

Tanumoy had been listening to the cassettes almost 17 hours a day and crammed the materials exactly what it were almost before a month of the examination.

''I am not at all satisfied with the result, as my family and neighbours had given me a lot of support, but my performance was not that much in the paper, though almost 100 marks was common for me,'' Tanumoy lamented.
