Appoint CDPOs as per rules: HC

Itanagar, Jun 07 (UNI) The Itanagar permanent bench of Gauhati High Court (HC) has directed that the appointment of Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) should strictly be as per prescribed recruitment rules.

Disposing off a writ petition filed against the Arunachal Pradesh government by Kali Bogo and seven others, challenging the validity of appointment of 13 officiating CDPOs on July 10 last year, the HC observed that ''the action of the state respondent authorities is arbitrary and unfair.'' Judge Z Angami, in his order dated June one, observed that the appointments were ''clearly in violation of Articles 14 and 16 of the constitution.'' Consequently, the judge directed that 50 per cent of the posts should be filled up through the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission and the rest 50 per cent through departmental promotion as per prescribed recruitment rules of 1995 within two months from the date of receipt of this order.
