Chennai, June 7 (UNI) The Opposition AIADMK today urged the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) to clarify whether the notice issued for the demolition of its party headquarters was still being insisted upon in the wake of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's reported remark that the notice was issued by mistake and without his knowledge.

In a letter to the CMDA Member Secretary, AIADMK Headquarters Secretary and Former Minister K A Sengottaiyan demanded the CMDA spell out its stand within two days of the receipt of the letter.

''If no reply is received from the CDMA, it will be presumed by the AIADMK the said notice stands withdrawn and repudiated as per the stand taken by Mr Karunanidhi,'' he said.

He said if any view contrary to the one expressed by the chief minister was entertained by the CMDA, the same could also be spelt out, which would enable the party to take up its stand in a very definite manner.

Mr Sengottaiyan said neither did the AIADMK go to the court nor has anyone been impleaded as a party in any case with respect to the said building.

''Hence, the entire aspect regarding the building is outside the purview of any order or direction of the High Court or any court,'' he claimed.

The CMDA had issued the notice under Section 56 read with section 85 of the Town and Country Planning Act, 1971, seeking to demolish the party office for constructing the building without proper permission and in violation of rules.
